Learning Lab: Coaching & Emotional Regulation

Learning Labs
March 17, 2022

Learning Lab #32

How do coaches develop effective skills and more confidence in managing their client's emotional overwhelm?

Coaching clients can benefit from integrating emotional regulation techniques and this session we will explore techniques that clients can use outside the context of their coaching sessions.

The lab will be led by our expert partner organisation The Grove Practice, leaders in the field of mental health education.

Together we will:

Examine the nature of emotions, and how and why they can become ‘dysregulated';

Explore how this dysregulation can show up in a coaching client;

Consider the consequences of this ‘dysregulation’ for the client;

Offer an overview of how to assess emotional intensity;

Highlight some key bodily and brain functions that influence the emotional landscape.

We will offer some basic tools and models on how to help coaching clients remain emotionally stable.

- This session was designed by Phil Hayes
