The 2020 ICF Global Coaching Study estimated that there has been a 33% increase in the number of coaching practitioners worldwide since 2015 and that the number of managers/leaders using coaching skills has risen by almost half in the same period.

And for good reason. Coaching is now widely respected as a powerful way for people and organisations to adapt and sharpen their performance to achieve their potential. Whatever your future goals, our 4-day Intensive Coaching Skills (ICS) Programme is the perfect foundation to understand, embrace and unleash your coaching potential.

What is the ICS?

The ICS is designed for people within organisations who are looking to improve their coaching skills, as well as individuals who want to become professional coaches. It is also an important first step for those who want to work towards a professional qualification or benchmark their practice against peers. The programme is open to everybody – no prior coaching experience is required.

With the support of experienced coach tutors, the ICS will introduce you to the key coaching principles and skills required to build successful coaching relationships. By combining real-issue demonstrations with lots of opportunities to practice, you’ll quickly gain the insights and tools required for immediate application.

The programme continually evolves based on participant feedback and in line with our key objective - to give you the confidence to be able to handle anything from a 5-minute corridor conversation to a structured series of coaching sessions.

ICS programme format

Our Intensive Coaching Skills programme is delivered across four consecutive days - with some preparatory and evening work. The final day includes our long- established benchmarking assessment giving you detailed feedback on a live coaching session.

Everyone is guaranteed a safe and fun environment where you will learn as much from each other as you do from the tutors.

Build rapport, trust and psychological safety
Set programme and session goals
Manage the coaching process
Listen at depth and ask powerful questions that enable change
Use appropriate tools and techniques on a range of relationship and behaviour issues
Explore values and underlying motivation
Handle strong emotion in the coaching room
Work with clients to move them to action and accountability

A Coach Skills Development pathway

We aim to develop, educate and support novice and more experienced coaches in their practice and in the completion of a professional qualification in coaching. Many of our ICS alumni go on to complete their qualifications with us and successfully coach senior leaders as internal or independent coaches.

In the 2022 ICF Global Consumer Awareness Study 79% of those surveyed said it was important for professional business coaches to have a certification
