How can we learn to fail — intelligently?
From an early age, we’re taught to avoid failure at all costs. But great leaders - like great pilots - know that failure is inevitable and often invaluable. As Capt. Ben Berman puts it: “I’ve never flown a perfect flight, and it’s not going to happen today.”
In this Learning Lab, Dee Donnelly invites us to reframe our thinking around failure. Drawing inspiration from Amy Edmondson’s Right Kind of Wrong, we’ll explore how different types of failure show up - and how to work with them in a way that builds safety, learning and growth.
What to Expect:
Through insight, reflection and discussion, Dee will guide us to identify, categorise and learn from failure. We’ll look at how speaking up can challenge hierarchy, why context shapes our appetite for risk, and how stepping away from blame unlocks real learning. You’ll leave with practical ideas for responding more skilfully to failure and greater confidence in helping others do the same.
