Learning Lab: Developing Your Coach Identity

Learning Labs
February 24, 2021

Learning Lab #20

Our approach to coaching is that it addresses the ‘being’ self as well as the ‘doing’ self.

In the same way, coaches need to work on their whole, and best, ‘being’ selves in the coaching role.

In a recent conversation with colleagues, we asked them what parts of themselves they didn’t bring enough of to their coaching.

They replied, “Humour, warmth and connection”.  We were both a little shocked by this. We then asked the question, “What would it be like if you brought all of these parts of yourself to your coaching?”

We had an energetic discussion on how we could identify and bring all of ourselves to our coaching work.

We also discussed how we could actively develop that ‘being’ self, in order to become who we should be as coaches.  From that discussion we created this Learning Lab…
