Career Coaching
“You helped me find out what was holding
me back.
I changed it and got the job I had always wanted.
As simple as that.” – Oil executive
Careers have changed.
They are now rarely for life.
You are likely to change your career – perhaps
moving into a radically different field – once
or twice during your working life.
You might take on a portfolio of roles tailored to
different skills and targeted to exploit a range of
business opportunities.
Management Futures works with managers who are facing
change, whether through:
- Redundancy
- Frustration at career stagnation
- Approaching retirement
- Returning from a career break
- Considering self-employment
Management Futures coaches excel at this work. An
impressive 90 per cent of our clients land jobs they
are delighted with. One of our executive directors,
Jenny Rogers, is author of a best-selling book on job
interviews.
We help clients address these questions:
- What do I want from life?
- How much is my life in balance?
- Where is my career going?
- What are my core values?
A key role of the coach is to enable the client to
identify their skills and their goals. To recognise
the skills they have, those they need to develop, and
those they need to acquire.
Every person we work with is different, so our coaching
is one-to-one, tailored to fit exactly your situation
and requirements.
As an example, the coaching process might take this
shape:
- An initial contact, to introduce coach to client
and ensure they are a good match.
- Exercises for the client to carry out before the
first consultation.
- A first meeting, at which goals are set and a course
of action determined.
- A number of subsequent meetings and phone consultations,
to track progress and ensure the target is hit.
The coach works alongside the client throughout the
job-seeking process, which involves:
Identifying a vacancy
Many jobs are never advertised. How networking and personal
contacts can throw up opportunities which would never
be discovered through formal channels.
Crafting a CV
The CV is the marketing tool that helps you
get the interview. How to ensure your CV is the one
that answers exactly the questions the potential employer
has of a candidate, and is presented in such a way that
it gets noticed.
The interview
An interview is a performance. You must be natural,
but present yourself in the best light. Using video
or direct feedback from coach to optimise that performance.
Job offer
Ensuring the package you negotiate is the best that
is attainable.
