Steve enjoys supporting leaders and managers facing change in uncertain and unpredictable circumstances.  After coaching for 3 years and spending 8 years as a consultant and facilitator, he believes passionately in the value of leadership capability at all levels of the organisation.

Working to develop the capabilities that contribute to effective, resilient decision-making is key to Steve’s approach to coaching. His challenging, rigorous approach is drawn from a variety of scientific, sociological and psychological fields and encourages innovative, radical frameworks for thinking and action within the business environment. He is particularly interested in bringing dialogue, improvisation and complexity approaches to his work with the client.

Examples of recent clients include:

  • Chief Executive of a law firm developing his personal impact and mentoring techniques to empower and develop staff following a series of mergers.
  • Senior Civil Servant reflecting on her management practice and refining her influencing skills in a highly politicized and complex multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Entrepreneur rapidly addressing front-line business issues following the launch of her new parent education and child care service.
  • Financial Services Operations Director implementing a program of radical cultural change across three geographically dispersed business divisions.

Steve’s international experience includes periods in the USA, Europe and the Far East.  He was recently chosen to lead to a change project for the Home Office working with cross cultural groups to provide advice on the effective provision of services to asylum seekers.  He is interested in experiential approaches to education and is frequently asked to facilitate international post-graduate programs in leadership and decision making.

His expertise in complex environments and dynamic decision-making is derived from several years experience as an RAF fighter pilot. He now combines these pragmatic skills with considerable business and organisational experience.  His practice is underpinned by a first degree in communication and media, an MBA, and an MSc in Organisation Consulting. He holds certified consultant status with the Institute of Management Consultancy and is a participant in the inaugural presentation of the Ashridge Doctorate in Organisation Consulting.
