Pat Conaty
Pat came to coaching after many years working with teams with which, almost unwittingly, she had incorporated a coaching approach to this work. She believes that being listened to – and accepted - is a really, really good thing to experience! She believes that trying to do this is a good way to work! She aims to offer just the right balance of support and challenge for each individual.
Pat’s interest as a coach is in the continuing impact that self-confidence and self-awareness can have day to day. She believes the impact is far-reaching touching not only on relationships but on a range of leadership activities including decision-making, risk-taking, developing others and creating a vision. She enjoys working with clients who want to confront their personal blocks as they work to become even more professionally effective – or as they approach watershed moments in their careers. Recent coaching assignments include:
- Chief Executive working in a Primary Care Trust – initially working on how to secure new job in new structure but who realised they wanted to make significant changes in their career
- Newly appointed senior manager – working to a new corporate strategy – who wanted to influence more effectively
- Newly promoted senior manager who felt there was a risk of continuing to be seen as the “expert” and wished to create new impact
- Owner Director of small business who was generally dissatisfied with business performance and yet believed fervently in the service offered
- Long-serving senior manager who was low on energy and yet committed to delivering at highest quality
- Senior medical consultant needing to create a new team and doubting own capacity to bring six other medical consultants on board
In earlier career, Pat spent 17 years at the British Council and spanned most HR activities, living in London, Manchester and Madrid. As 2000 began, she lead a leadership development programme aimed at significant culture change (working with Management Futures’ Jenny Rogers). This experience influenced her to start working independently specialising in this type of work. Pat has recently returned to live in London after a 15 year absence.
