Sheila Browne

Sheila believes that self-awareness lies at the heart of good leadership. Appreciating one’s impact on others and using power wisely are crucial in understanding the leadership role.

Sheila is a skilled facilitator and accredited executive coach, who has been working with adult learners all through her career and with leaders and managers for eight years.  She helps leaders to understand their roles and responsibilities in leading change, managing performance, providing strategic direction and developing personal effectiveness.  Her clients value her warm and inclusive style with its focus on challenge and support.

  • A large media organisation with a need to develop leadership skills as part of a culture change programme.  Over four years, three and a half thousand leaders successfully completed the programme.
  • The senior team in a regional government office exploring new ways of working while facing the challenge of resource constraints and restructuring.
  • A long-established city investment bank developing its high potential leaders.
  • Newly recruited graduates on an internal learning and development programme in the energy industry.
  • The senior team of a Committee in a high profile, newly established government Commission, defining their long-term strategy and ensuring their voice is heard in the wider Commission.

Sheila was instrumental in setting up the internal coaching network in the BBC, which has been widely acclaimed.  She trained and supervised other coaches and helped develop the First 100 Days coaching programme for leaders moving into new roles.  She now advises on the establishment of similar coaching services in a variety of organisations.  She is a volunteer in the Central London branch of Samaritans.

Sheila has an MA in English Literature and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education; a Diploma in Executive Coaching and accreditation as a coach at Ashridge Business School.  She is an assessor and supervisor on Management Futures’ ILM-accredited Coaching Diploma.  She is BPS-qualified at Levels A & B to use psychometric tools such as MBTI Steps 1 & 2, FIRO-B and various 360 degree instruments.
