Matt believes that growth and development are fundamental to human well-being as well as to success for individuals, teams and organisations. His has worked in Leadership and Management Development for over 15 years.

Matt’s focus is the area where business and psychology meet and he has a strong academic and hands-on background to support this.  He works particularly well with individuals and teams facing major challenges or who feel ‘stuck’ (often very successfully stuck!) and want to move forward or who need to think differently about where they are and what they need to do.

  • A newly created department in a large public sector organisation which was effectively ‘cobbled together’ from existing teams and expected to produce instant high performance
  • A division of a major manufacturer which needed to up its game in the face of fierce international competition
  • A public sector Chief Executive who needed to develop a more productive relationship between her team of directors and elected members
  • An established media organisation that had grown organically from small beginnings  but, having quadrupled in size, now had to establish some real leadership and collaborative team working at the top
  • A development agency needing to up its profile through real leadership internally and by providing much-needed leadership in the wider political and economic community
  • An NHS team that needed to consult effectively across the whole health economy

Matt has significant overseas experience having worked in Africa, the Middle East, Eastern and Western Europe.  He is a talented linguist and can work in French and Italian.  He also has a good knowledge of Russian and Spanish.  Above all Matt values the positive in every culture and has a real skill in working with people whose first language is not English.

Active outside work as a school governor and leading a family support network, Matt has chaired a number of conferences on work and community issues.  He holds an MBA, an MSc in Organisational Psychology and Diplomas in Executive Coaching and Organisational Consulting.  He has practitioner training in NLP and Gestalt and is qualified to use the MBTI and 16PF personality questionnaires.  He leads on many of our leadership programmes and is a supervisor and assessor for our ILM-accredited Coaching Diploma.
