Sheila Browne

Sheila was until recently Senior Learning and Development Consultant in the BBC’s Training and Development Department in London.  From 2002 she played a major part in the design and delivery of the award-winning BBC Leadership Programme in partnership with Ashridge Business School, attended by over 3,500 leaders across the BBC.  She is skilled at facilitating both large events of more than 100 participants and smaller workshop groups, focusing on leading change, performance management, personal effectiveness and leadership development. 

Sheila has worked with senior leaders in, for example, Radio 1, Central Strategy, Television Commissioning, Current Affairs, Resources Ltd, and World Service, to improve team effectiveness.   She is an experienced action learning set facilitator. Sheila was a lead executive coach in the BBC’s internal coaching network and has completed a postgraduate Diploma in Coaching Skills with the Institute of Leadership & Management.  

She had previously joined Tyne Tees Television, part of the ITV network, where she worked for eleven years in a number of roles including Head of Community Affairs, providing educational back-up and liaising with the local community. 

Sheila’s strength lies in facilitating learning with adults, starting with their needs, respecting their views and challenging them to fulfil their potential.   Her style is inclusive while focused clearly on outcomes and action.  Her career has centred on creating conditions in which individuals and groups can learn and develop. 

She is qualified to administer various 360 degree feedback instruments, the Myers Briggs Type Indicator Step 2, FIRO-B, and the SDI.
