MEETING THE TRAUMA IN THE CLIENT
February 25
Julia Vaughan Smith
When working with clients we often meet the part of the client’s inner world that has been affected by trauma, something that was so psychologically painful that it left them feeling helpless, usually as a child. What do we do with that as coaches? How do we recognise it?
We meet it when we press against survival defensive behaviours which the client wants to change. It is deeper than changing the thinking – if only it was that simple.
This APN will look at some ideas about trauma and how to work with it within an executive or life coaching session. Jules will talk about applying psychotherapeutic thinking to coaching and how to use coaching techniques to progress personal change.
