Advanced Practitioner Network

Introduced in 2007 to provide experienced coaches with a range of new ideas and theories and a network into which to tap. These afternoon sessions (usually Thursdays at the end of the month) have input from visiting speakers, lively discussion and drinks at 5p.m. Subjects to be announced shortly.   Feedback on what you would like as a subject ( or offers to lead a session) to Jan Campbell.

TRANSFORMATIONAL COACHING

January 24
Jenny Rogers

Much coaching stays in the “safe bubble” of the coaching room, often confined to the client’s version of events embodied in a “story”; the session will show you how to introduce observation and systemic dimensions that can significantly increase effectiveness.

BEYOND BEING A VICTIM – COACHING “STUCK” PEOPLE

February 28
Kate Hudson

Clients often come to coaching because they have a dilemma that they are “stuck” with. What can the coach do when the client seems to be choosing to stay “stuck” in the coaching room? What makes the victim position attractive? The workshop will propose strategies for overcoming these blocks.

SUPERVISION AND ETHICAL DILEMMAS

May 1
Jan Campbell Young

This event will use working examples to illustrate supervision methods and tackle some thorny problems in coaching. There will be work in small supervision groups to practise using the process and the model.

MAINTAINING DETACHMENT AND EMOTIONAL STATE

June 26
Phil Hayes

This session invites you to look beneath the surface of competence and examine your doubts and fears. When we coach, we are not neutral and objective: we are still human and so we should be: how are we to manage the potential tensions which may arise?

TEAM COACHING – A TASTER SESSION

September 25
Sandra Grealy

The session will introduce the Management Futures model of Team Coaching and the similarities and differences to one to one work. It will be a stimulating preview of the full programme and will answer all your questions.

TRANSFORMATION AND THE BOUNDARIES BETWEEN COACHING AND THERAPY

October 16
Julia Vaughan Smith

Both coaching and therapy are concerned with transformation and personal change. Our focus will be transformational rather than transactional and we will draw on what coaching might usefully learn from therapy and consider the major differences and similarities in orientation and methodology.

CREATIVITY IN COACHING

November 20
Lorraine Steele

Self-awareness is at the heart of coaching. When we combine the visual language of drawing and painting with coaching, we achieve a unique cross-fertilization process. In this workshop participants will have the opportunity to explore their resourcefulness through the visual dimension to allow them to effect change and evolve solutions.
